I don't like this study. I'm a clothes fetish kinda guy, and seeing a woman in a bra is actually hotter than seeing the goods.

Being honest & fair, can you think of anything that the Watchtower does that's beneficial to the public?
by Theocratic Sedition ini'm curious, as where i reside there's about to be a major brouhaha over the tax exempt status of a major player in this area.
reading and hearing the arguments from both sides conjured thoughts about the tax exempt status of religions and the arguments associated with that issue.
a significant portion of the arguments related to that issue center around how a tax exempt organization benefits it's community.

In helping people learn about the Bible, JWs have been able to inspire some people to break bad habits or stop self-destructive behavior. That can be a positive thing, but it's also something that could be accomplished without destructive social influences.
ok, that is in harmony with Sir82's post.
provided the impetus for drug abusers / alcoholics to straighten out their lives and become productive members of society.
So between those two thoughts and the following,
There have been occasions where they did help some in the community to learn how to read and write.
We're still stuck on only two aspects where the WT actually provides something beneficial to the average community.
Is there nothing else? Is that it?

by ÁrbolesdeArabia insince i joined the forum i noticed more than a few people have not been posting, what is going on?
i received a couple of emails from other groups asking me to join their new forms with a promised technology, i wondered how they got my email address and thought it be strange.. .
people during the first year of a great change might post daily to any support chat or message board they feel is going to aid them.

I swear "percolatin" is one of the greatest words ever. I don't think I've ever seen it spelled until now btw.

The WTS has, on occasion, provided the impetus for drug abusers / alcoholics to straighten out their lives and become productive members of society.
Ok, that's two. Two more than I could think of as well.

Comedian Jonathan Winters Died Yesterday at 87
by BizzyBee inalways loved his comedy - very inventive.
in his later years, he was a fixture around town.
he'd hang out (sometimes in front of the market, or at an executive services office in the village) and do comedy routines and banter with anyone who came by.. .

It made me question whether the Watchtower and JWs, but primarily the Watchtower, do they benefit the community in any way that you can think of? Cuz I'm striking out.

How is Life measured at Death?
by Monsieur inrecently an old friend died in an accident at the tender age of 35. the unfortunate event has been described from 'sad' to 'unfair' etc.. dying of old age is one thing, dying of sickness even.. but dying abruptly in an accident (or worse, being eaten by another creature, shark etc) is downright ludicrious.. if there is no afterlife in any shape or form, and one dies being struck by a surviving drunk driver or murdered at a theater, a tornado, or mauled by piranhas, what the hell is the point of that??.
what of all your work to raise a good family, helping your fellow man, doing good deeds, building something etc.??.
it's almost laughable to think that one can do all these things and in the broad spectrum of things death can make it all ultimately meaningless....

Watchtower says:You can be Disfellowshiped for being FAT!!!!!
by Witness 007 inwatch 1974 p.167 "by disobediently overindulging in food and making a glutton of himself, he fails to show love for jehovah...is food a big thing in his life?
in the presence of others does he selfishly ignore their needs and take far more than his fair share?
is he grossly overweight?
